To use this site to find and download updates, you need to change your security settings to allow ActiveX controls and active scripting. I was so excited, because I am having the same issues, and this is even the driver.inf file that I need to install. So I followed all these steps, including ignoring the warning, and still the the message that my driver is 'not compatible with the current version of Windows.' Any other suggestions? Obviously, I do not have the exact same setup, but am trying to install this exact same driver for an ATI Fire GL V5200 that takes the same driver file (actually, all the stuff that you said to delete and replace is exactly what I needed to leave in there!) I am running Windows 10 64-bit. I am so extremely frustrated. Windows 10 is updated, Intel has all been updated. Catalyst shows driver is installed. DirectX sees my video card as an ATI AtomBIOS, but device manager still shows an unidentified video controller. After 50+ hours of research, you answer was the closest I had gotten to the exact problem. I just wished it had worked. I will gladly take any other suggestions anyone has at this point. I just want to be able to use both my video ports the way that ATI designed it to be used. That's not too much to ask is it? I've had the Dell Inspiron 9400 (E1705) for years, upgraded it to Win 7 Ultimate and the ATI x1400 driver with Mobility Modder to get full screen resolution functionality and better performance. Windows update showed the Win10 icon and I ran a compatibility test which returned a favorable upgrade result - so I ran the update. Obviously the Modded driver is gone - replaced by a generic MS driver that gives me only 2 resolutions and poor video performance. The 9400 is old, heavy, and slow - but it's a 'tank' and great for just sitting on the kitchen counter for recipes. If the CPU isn't overloaded with background missions - it's a solid and reliable performer for a limited set of tasks. Can anyone suggest a fix or mod to get the x1400 running on Windows 10? Whyme, The link to the website you gave is not working anymore and I have no idea which one it should be. Would you mind posting a new link? Thanks!I'm using the windows 7 driver for my ATI Radeon x1600 from the update catalog and it works very well on Windows 10. If you want the X1400 then using Internet Explorer go here and accept the add-on when Internet Explorer prompts you. (It will not work with other browsers). It isn't obvious so download the larger windows 7 file if you have 64 bit and the smaller if you have 32 bit. Extract the contents of the.cab file you downloaded with to some folder. Go to device manager, display adapters and right click on 'Microsoft basic display adapter' (I've already updated mine in the picture below).
